The energy balance and the mechanism of discharge transport on the surface of a thermionic cathode in an arc discharge
Modes of burning of an electric arc are treated under conditions in which the thermionic current from the cathode is much lower than the arc current. The conditions on the cathode surface are refined; it is demonstrated that the hypothesis of ion transport of discharge does not contradict the energy balance on the cathode surface.
