The Injection of Alkali Metal into a Turbulent Flow of Inert Gas for Developing the Working Medium of a Nonequilibrium MHD Generator
The theory of turbulent jets and turbulent diffusion is used to simulate the process of mixing of an alkali metal seed with a turbulent flow of inert gas for developing the working medium of a nonequilibrium MHD generator. The parameters and geometry of the seed injection system are optimized. It is demonstrated that, for facilities of different power levels (demonstration, pilot, and commercial), the optimized system of seed injection provides for an almost hundred per cent homogeneity of the composition of the working medium of an MHD generator, which is necessary for suppressing the ionization instability of a nonequilibrium MHD plasma.
