Sound velocity in liquid n-alkanes
Annotation
An experimental investigation of the velocity of sound in liquid n-hexane, n-octane, n-decane, n-dodecane, n-tridecane, n-tetradecane, n-pentadecane, and n-hexadecane is carried out under pressures of up to 50 MPa in the temperature range from 303 to 433 K. The maximum error in the determination of sound velocity did not exceed 0.1%. The correlation between the sound velocity and the molecular structure of n-alkanes is studied. The coefficients of a generalizing function are calculated depending on temperature, pressure, and the number of carbon atoms in an alkane molecule.
