Sound velocity in liquid $n$-alkanes
Annotation
An experimental investigation of the velocity of sound in liquid $n$-hexane, $n$-octane, $n$-decane, $n$-dodecane, $n$-tridecane, $n$-tetradecane, $n$-pentadecane, and $n$-hexadecane is carried out under pressures of up to $50$ MPa in the temperature range from $303$ to $433$ K. The maximum error in the determination of sound velocity did not exceed $0.1\%$. The correlation between the sound velocity and the molecular structure of $n$-alkanes is studied. The coefficients of a generalizing function are calculated depending on temperature, pressure, and the number of carbon atoms in an alkane molecule.
