The boundary of limiting superheats of $n$-heptane, ethanol, benzene, and toluene in the region of negative pressures
The boiling of superheated $n$-heptane, ethanol, benzene, and toluene is experimentally investigated in a negative-pressure wave with an amplitude of up to $-15$ MPa. The continuous transition is traced of the line of achievable superheats of investigated liquids from the positive to negative region of pressures. The experimental results are compared with the predictions made according to the homogeneous nucleation theory. The reasons for the discrepancy between the experimental results and those calculated under high negative pressures are discussed.
