Thermal and electrical parameters of the electrode-plasma system in an MHDG channel
A one-dimensional formulation is used in considering heating effects in a two-layer ceramic electrode and in a turbulent plasma boundary layer. The temperature distribution and voltage-current characteristics have been derived for this threelayer system on the basis of Joule heat production. Under typical MHGD conditions, the temperature peak occurs in the plasma, while the complete voltage-current characteristic contains a falling branch, as in a two-layer model. The peak-temperature curve and the voltage-current characteristics correspond to unbounded increase in the heat flux from the plasma to the electrode.
