Annotation
An exact solution is given for the thermal deformation in the mirrors together with a brief survey of the theory of turbulent heat transfer in mirror-cooling systems. The porous medium approximation is used to calculate the temperature patterns, and a universal relationship between the heat transfer and the hydraulic resistance is employed, along with turbulent thermal conduction for the liquid in the porous medium, the limits to accelerating the heat transfer in the mirrors, two-dimensional effects in local heating, and the effects of heat transfer on nonstationary thermal deformation.
