Numerical study of heat and mass transfer processes involving a burning coal particle
Annotation
A model is proposed to describe nonsteady heat- and mass-transfer processes in the boundary volume of gas surrounding a coal particle undergoing pyrolysis after it is placed in a hot gaseous medium. A method is developed to numerically solve the nonsteady differential equations for conservation of mass, the chemical components, and the energy of the gaseous medium with specific boundary conditions related to the behavior of the burning coal particle. New effects are discovered in the thermal regimes associated with the ignition and combustion of particles of pulverized coal.
