The effective mass of charged clusters in weakly conducting liquids
Annotation
The existing possibilities to determine the mass of charged clusters $M_i$ in weak liquid electrolytes are discussed. It was noted that the standard relaxation influence of the finite values of $M_i$ on the frequency dependence of the three-dimensional conductivity $\sigma_3(\omega)$ of a weak electrolyte becomes observable in the range of sufficiently high frequencies where other types of absorption such as Debye relaxation (which occurs when $\omega\approx\omega_D$) are also activated. This work presents a methodology that allows taking data related to $M_i$ in the low-frequency domain $\omega\ll\omega_D$ using a special differential procedure. Planar $\sigma_{\parallel}(\omega)$ and vertical $\sigma_{\perp}(\omega)$ low-frequency conductivities in two-dimensional ionic system in the presence of vertical electric field $E_\perp$ are measured with further definition of their difference $\delta\sigma=\sigma_\parallel(\omega)-\sigma_\perp(\omega)$, which contains the information on $M_i$.
