High-temperature heat and mass transfer and Stefan flow on the surface of preheated metal particle in cold air
Annotation
A model of high-temperature oxidation of a spherical metal particle in cold air with a possibly significant depth of transformation is constructed in view of Stefan flow. It is demonstrated that the impact made by Stefan flow on the heat and mass transfer and kinetics of oxidation of metal particle in cold air shows up at the initial temperature of metal particle above the critical value. Concentration profiles of gas components in the vicinity of particle are obtained and investigated for different temperatures of particle and gas, diameters, and relative velocities of motion of particle.
