An investigation of the possibility of forming a current-conducting channel in the earth surface atmosphere using wide-band thermal radiators
Physical and mathematical models are developed of interaction of a radiation flux characterized by Planck thermal spectrum with air molecules. Results are given of detailed theoretical and numerical analysis of the part played by the stepped mechanism of photoionization in developing an extended current-conducting channel of desired electron concentration. The possibility of multiphoton ionization of oxygen molecules by laser radiation is analyzed. The necessary input data for performing an experiment are obtained.
