Mathematical model of a thermal protection system with evaporation of the coolant from a capillary-porous material in a cavity
This article presents a mathematical model which employs a unidimensional formulation to describe a system of thermal protection for a heated surface. The system is based on the removal of heat by vaporization of a liquid kept in contact with the surface of a capillary-porous material. Evaporation takes place in a cavity, with the vapor–air mixture flowing out of the cavity into environment. The proposed model is used to describe physical processes which take place in the given system.
