Numerical Simulation of Surface Glow Discharge in Molecular Nitrogen
The DC surface glow discharge in molecular nitrogen at a pressure $p = 10$ Torr and voltages $V_0 = 600, 700,$ and $1000$ V is considered based on the diffusion-drift model. The local maxima of the electric field strength and the current density on electrodes are determined. The temperature fields induced by Joule heating in the near-electrode regions are analyzed.
