From deflagration to detonation: Three modes of combustion
Based on comparison of relative rates of turbulent combustion and detonation of various substances, a uniform method for the calculation of the rates of deflagration and detonation is suggested. In the case of detonation, correction factors arise in the formula of dependence for the rate of combustion, which take into account the increase of pressure and temperature in shock wave. Approximation dependences of the exponents of these correction factors are obtained for a number of substances. The effect of the composition of fuel gas mixtures on the rate of deflagration and detonation is discussed.
